Becky grew up in the tiny town of Gay, GA. She and her four siblings were raised in the church, members of the local United Methodist Church, but never knew there was a denominational difference because practically everyone in town attended church weekly—one Sunday at the Methodist church, two Sundays at the Baptist church and one Sunday at the Primitive Baptist church each month! Each church had the same choir and the same congregation, just different preachers! In this environment, Sunday School and church were just what everyone did on Sunday, nothing exciting or noteworthy.
It was as an adult, that Jesus became Lord and Savior, Friend, and driving force in Becky’s life. As a first grade teacher, she became intentional about introducing her students to Jesus by taking them to church and as many church activities as possible. She was amazed at their excitement, because what had been the norm for her growing up was new and thrilling to them. She began to see that the children were often the key to introducing their families to Jesus. Her work became a mission opportunity.
After retirement, Becky and Faye Benjamin continue to minister to children and their parents through a Christ-centered after school program named “My Father’s House”. Their desire is that everyone they come in contact with come to realize that they are each especially chosen and “Spoken For”!
